Building Neighbors With You

Collierville’s population is nearly six times larger than it was in 1979, when John Green and Company opened our doors to customers and agents alike. When we opened, the still active train depot had been recently acquired by the Town of Collierville from Southern Railroad. Now, it’s the center of Collierville tourism. We were here when the Town decided to rebuild the now iconic gazebo in 1994, years after it was destroyed by a tornado in the 1950s.

John Green has watched countless businesses and people move around this town, deeply encouraged by each of them. We have seen every little and big addition to Collierville Square and to the town as a whole since we opened. As full supporters of this community, we have embraced those positive changes. Now, we’re hoping to make a positive change ourselves.

To celebrate our company’s 40 years, not only on the Square but also in Collierville, we wanted to create a friendly place that reflected our experiences with our wonderful community. Thus came the idea for John Green & Company’s new and beautiful building, located at 50 North Main Street. This new building will house our company of realtors, as a heartfelt but still inadequate gesture of thanks for their steadfast loyalty over the years.

However, we wanted this building to be for everyone – it was important to us that everyone who had supported us over the years could help us celebrate our success. It’s only our success because those supporters were there in the first place.

So we carefully drafted up plans for a rooftop event space that provides a picture-perfect view of the Square. Here, we imagine the sounds of laughter, music and neighborly chatter catching on a breeze and making its way across town. We also added a commercial space for lease, so that we can better get to know other businesses, entrepreneurs and groups in Collierville. Just as we’ve been supported for so many years, we want to turn around and help whoever we can to succeed in this space.

Another aspect of our move to the opposite end of the Square was motivated by our determination to see Washington Square, the new commercial sector of the Historic District,  flourish just as the Square has done. The renovations of Mensi’s, a Collierville staple and personal favorite, and Lost Pizza Company are just a preamble, and we’re so excited to see this project through to the end.

We’ve now been in this new space for a few months, and we already love it. Providing an area for the Taste of the Town event was just the first step in opening our doors to the whole community. We are excited about our upcoming Open House on October 23rd and hope you will come out and see our new space. Our building is just another way that we continue building neighbors with you.
